Join this statewide gathering of patient safety professionals and enjoy a pre-conference Leadership Summit hosted by Hospital Council Northern & Central California. The 2023 HQI and Hospital Council Annual Conference will offer three keynote addresses, four tracks of breakout sessions, and one can’t-miss opportunity to advance patient safety.
Recently, CHPSO received an inquiry about the use of color-coded patient wristbands in California hospitals. To assess whether there is a national movement toward standardized armband color adoption, CHPSO surveyed its more than 485 member hospitals across 21 states.

Every quarter, HQI receives a large volume of discharge records (as part of the Hospital Quality Improvement Platform) and safety reports (as part of the Collaborative Healthcare Patient Safety Organization, or CHPSO) from hospitals. To make use of this timely data, we designed and implemented sentinel signal detection systems that automatically detect abnormal changes in the incidence of diagnosis codes and terms’ document frequencies (i.e., signals).
