Recent updates to the Hospital Quality Improvement Platform (HQIP) have made it even more useful for member hospitals. HQIP now includes:
- Statewide 2023 inpatient, emergency department, and ambulatory surgery data for patient-level administrative encounters
- Procedure-specific readmission reports (e.g., Total Hip Arthroplasty and/or Total Knee Arthroplasty and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) based on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Procedure-Specific Readmission Measure methodology
- Minor fixes to readmission reports, as well as modifications to add disposition group and source route as filters/stratified variables
- Implementation of codes exempt from “present on admission” (POA) categorization; during the upload and processing phase, the system will identify exempt codes as defined by CMS and fill in POA = “E.”
Future HQIP updates include:
- A new behavioral health report
- Automated hospital system reporting to streamline comparisons of measure outcomes across network hospitals
- Increased transparency on report methodology, including documentation of flagging/calculation methodologies
- Streamlined reporting in which multiple reports will be consolidated into one, with filters to select each encounter type or mix
- More opportunities for hospitals to dive deeper into their data
- An update to the Severe Maternal Morbidity and Mortality report, which will instead follow the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Maternal Health Indicator Report
