Strategies for Successful CLABSI Prevention: Insights from Our Journey to Zero

March 28, 2024 | 11:00AM - 12:00PM PT

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, nestled in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California, faced significant challenges in preventing CLABSI during the SARS CoV-2 (COVID) pandemic. Rather than adhering strictly to conventional compliance practices involving insertion and maintenance bundles, they approached the issue by distinguishing between prevention and reduction strategies. Their commitment and innovative perspective bore fruit, as on December 19th, 2023, they marked a remarkable milestone of over 1070 days—almost three years and counting—without a CLABSI. This noteworthy journey to zero began in June 2020.

Presentation topics include:

  • Describe the organization transformation model
  • Discuss the sequence of interventions for culture shift
  • Discuss strategies to apply the tools to a scenario at the audience’s healthcare institutions
