Marissa is a dedicated and compassionate nursing professional with over 32 years of experience at Desert Regional Medical Center. With a strong commitment to patient care, she has positively led her team through challenges and crises, remaining calm under pressure.
Starting as a bedside nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Marissa later assumed the role of ICU Clinical Manager for 23 years. Her passion for leadership and education led her to achieve a dual Master’s Degree in MSN and MBA. In 2019, she embraced the Director position in the ICU, demonstrating her resilience and adaptability amidst a nursing strike, the Covid-19 pandemic, and its emotional aftermath.
Marissa’s leadership has fostered collaboration among staff, resulting in improvements in patient safety, experience, and employee satisfaction. She played a key role in establishing a successful Unit-Based Council, empowering nurses, enhancing morale, and facilitating process enhancements.
HQI is an approved continuing education (CE) provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing and will provide CHPSO members an opportunity to earn CEs. Provider Number CEP16793 for 1.0 contact hour.
