Improvements to CHPSOData Allow for Hospital-Specific Analysis

The latest signal detection reporting from HQI continues analysis of aggregate signals across hospitals, but adds hospital-specific data so that members can better understand how statewide signals play out at their unique facility.

Overall, first quarter (Q1) 2025 data show increases in medication and care disputes among providers, knowledge gaps related to uncommon medication reactions, and inaccuracies in electronic health records, among other issues. HQI’s report explains each signal and offers actionable insights for providers.

Within CHPSOData, members can now find their hospital-specific data seamlessly integrated, allowing them to proactively spot safety concerns unique to their hospital before they escalate. The system automatically scans free-text event descriptions for key terms and trends, delivering faster recognition of risks. CHPSOData’s Signal Detection offers three distinct tools:

  • Event keywords that track emerging spikes in terms like fall and pinpoint where, how often, and how severely incidents are occurring
  • Natural language processing categories that classify events with greater granularity for sharper insights
  • Event cluster topics that group related safety events under similar clinical areas to simplify data interpretation
