Those six words are more than the Hospital Quality Institute’s tagline. They’re the foundation of what we do every day and serve as a constant reminder of our goal to help you deliver the safest, highest-quality care possible. They’re the words that push us to be better than the day before — because the people you care for depend on you, and you depend on us.
None of this is possible without the exceptional women and men who choose to work in hospitals.
With this foundation, I’m pleased to share the inaugural edition of The Quality Quarterly, HQI’s newsletter. This publication is intended to support your work by providing information on clinical developments, opportunities to learn from your peers, and new technologies to help you work more effectively.
Since I began my service as President of HQI in June, we’ve taken a fresh look at who we are as an organization to better define what “leadership in quality and patient safety” means to us. That was the start of a new learning process that we are undertaking to better understand how we can help you meet your mission of care. Over the coming months, I’ll personally visit as many members as possible so that I can hear directly from you. Your input will help us to be a better organization for you.
As we look toward a new year, I’m excited to share with you HQI’s revamped direction, which will focus on three priorities:
- Data enrichment — discovering the trends behind vast data
- Joy and meaning in health care — fostering a just culture that increases employee satisfaction
- Opioid/methamphetamine crisis — combating the current national emergency
These areas will drive our work in the coming years, and we look forward to your collaboration and participation.
HQI is grateful to have partnerships with the leaders of organizations around the state and nation that change and save lives. I’m in awe of what you have accomplished to date and look forward to helping HQI do its part to build on that success.
